What is PFLAG?

PFLAG is the nation's largest organization dedicated to uniting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) with their families, friends, and allies. Since 1972, its mission has been to advance equality and full societal affirmation of LGBTQ people through support, education, and advocacy.

The Washburn PFLAG chapter was founded in 2009 and proudly serves Ashland and Bayfield counties in northern Wisconsin. Year round, we provide the Chequamagon Bay community of Lake Superior with information and a safe space for LGBTQ individuals and their allies.

It makes no difference if you're scared and stuck in the closet at 65, or if you're proudly out at 14. Or if you're a mother, brother, grandparent, or friend. We're with you.

Our chapter.

Your chapter.

Now that you know we're here, if you have a moment why not let us know you're out there too? Better yet, come to one of our confidential bi-monthly meetings and make some great new friends!

"People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
