Nancy moved to Washburn in October of 2008 to become pastor of Messiah and First Lutheran Churches in Washburn and Port Wing, and within a few months had met more than 15 people who wanted the Chequamegon Bay Area to have some kind of an organized movement for LGBTQ equality. PFLAG Washburn got its start in April of 2009, and Nancy has been the chapter's president ever since.
A Northwoods native, Matt earned his MFA in Creative Writing from NYC's The New School. He has been a member of the PFLAG Washburn Board since August 2015, and is currently the chapter's communications coordinator. He is also Assistant Director of Admissions at Northland College in Ashland, and blogs about LGBT issues at www.mattmallum.com.
